This adventure starts as a whole day excursion. After an early breakfast, we depart from the guesthouse to explore parts of the Hoanib River and the Kaokoveld plains in search of the elusive black rhino. We work closely with the “Save The Rhino Trust,” making use of specialized trackers from the Sesfontein conservancy. We spend a full day tracking the endangered black rhino. Longer walks on foot might be necessary in order to get close to these elusive animals. This is not a guaranteed sighting or “soft” adventure. The terrain can be rough and challenging, and a lot of physical effort might be required to get close to a rhino. In the late afternoon, we find a suitable spot to pitch our camp.
